After 10 years of our marriage, my family life had been very poor and miserable. We did yet to access the loan from Daikou Finance. Our kids were still young and in school. We needed to spend for their schooling, clothing, school materials and other unexpected. “The more expenses were to be incurred, the heavier family burden became”. In those hard days, we discussed a lot among ourselves (husband and wife) and came up with a thought of setting up a small-scale business of buying plastic and metal scraps, since no one yet in the village owned such a business. Our home is well located close to the main road with people going back and forth. We then started with a capital of 6,000,000 Riels (about US$1,500) to buy plastic and metal scraps from collectors to earn some household incomes. After that, we wanted to expand the business but lacked of enough capital to enlarge the business site. We wanted to get a loan from a private moneylender, but their interest rate was quite high. We wanted to approach microfinance institutions; however, we’d never done so before. We’re a bit scared! It’s really hard for us to get information about financial services, due to our lack of confidence in the financial sector.
Later on, it’s good for my family and the villagers that Daikou Finance had entered the village. I participated in their loan promotion sessions conducted by the staff in cooperation with the Village Bank Management Committee (VBMC), a local committee facilitating the loan process. With the advice of the VBMC, I decided to get the first loan at the amount of US$4,000 to add onto the existing capital for the business expansion. From years to years, my loans were bigger and bigger to enable me to stock up the scraps for sales. As of to-day, I have the fifth cycle loan from Daikou Finance with the amount of US$13,000. Nevertheless, my family today is able to have a bigger site for the business. We’ve been able to build a bigger home with enough materials for use at home. Each family member has owned a transport (motorbike). We’ve bought a tri-cycle motor for the transportation of plastic and metal scraps, and our household income is certainly up!
She said, “my family is very happy and greatly satisfied for what we’ve been achieved as of to-day. We’ve also understood about the effective use of the loans for the intended purpose”. She continued, “we’ve been really impacted by the loans from Daikou Finance that contributes to lifting up my family’s living conditions”. She exclaimed, “I myself and all other my family members would like to thank Daikou Finance tremendously for such a wonderful impact of their financial support”.
In the future, we still want to expand the business with a much larger site to store up the scraps and wish to have a mini truck for the scrap transportation. We also wish to employ 7 to 10 villagers as the site workers to create local employment for their household incomes towards their happiness and social prosperities as well.
