Ms. CHEN SREY MAO

I am Chin Srey Mao aged 54 years, a vendor of general items or/ groceries. My husband is Yi Sokun aged 57 years, a musician. We have 3 dependent kids, and live in eastern Prey Toteong village, Veal commune, Kong Pisey district, Kompong Speu province. Today, we’re proud of the accomplishments we’ve made so far. It’s a big dream and destiny that we’ve achieved through our handworks, physical and mental efforts, and especially thanks to the loan from Daikou Finance.

Prior to the loan from Daikou, my family was very poor living from hands to mouth, and we did not have access to a proper toilet. My kids did not have school materials for their study and did not have a mean of transportation to and from school. So, we decided to stop the schooling of the eldest kid at grade 11 for his hands to help earn household income. Without a mean of transportation, the eldest kid went out of home to earn household income with the neighbor’s kids who had their own transport. At the time, my husband and I discussed the matter to look for a business that could earn extra household income, because as a musician my husband could not earn much to support the entire family. We, then, thought of setting up a small business selling general items at home. However, we did not have a capital to set it up. We questioned ourselves, “where does it come from?” If we approached a private moneylender, they charged a high interest rate. If we approached banks or/ microfinance institutions, we did not know which one we should have approached.

Then, it’s a lucky day that a microfinance institution came to promote their financial products and services down in the village. It’s a coincidence that my family really had a financial need! I myself attended the promotion sessions conducted by Daikou Finance. I felt interested and decided to get a loan from Daikou Finance to set up the business of selling general items at home, to engage in musical job of my husband, and to build a toilet. From years to years, the size of my loan was bigger to enable me to stock up and replenish the stock and to replace the old/ broken musical instruments of my husband as well. I took the first loan at the amount of US$2,000, the second loan at US$5,000 and the third loan at US$10,000 from Daikou Finance. The third loan is very current and yet to be paid back to Daikou Finance. However, as of now my family is able to buy a new motorbike as a mean of transportation, and we’ve also secured enough household income for daily necessities.

Ms. Srey Mao said, “I am very happy for what I’ve accomplished so far and well understood the benefits of the loan from Daikou Finance”. She continued, “Daikou Finance really contributes to lifting up my family’s living conditions by means of giving a capital for the business set-up and or/ expansion”. She thanked Daikou Finance and wished Daikou to have more clients as well as for good health of its employees.

In the future, she wants to extend her home-based business with more customers and more household revenues as well. Her family’s living conditions would be much better with a lasting family happiness forever.
